MR. POYNTER

MAYSVILLE -- William S. Poynter, 83, died July 8, 2009, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.

Mr. Poynter was born in Maysville, May 13, 1926, to the late Taylor and Helen Cassidy Poynter.

He worked at Browning Mfg. Co., operated the Bus Station Restaurant, and also worked at Jerry's and Frisch's in Aberdeen, Ohio.

Mr. Poynter lived in Sarasota for many years before returning to Cincinnati. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in Europe and a member of the American Legion and loved working in his vegetable garden and raised beautiful roses and many other varieties of flowers. Mr. Poynter is survived by three daughters, Kathryn Gwen (Mel) Laug, Gemena Dunnette (Doug) Welling and Polly Kay (Ken) Kahny, all of Cincinnati; two brothers, James T. Poynter Jr. of Maysville and Clyde Poynter of Louisville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Poynter was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Poynter; and a sister, Maxine Poynter.

Services for Mr. William Poynter will be Saturday, July 11, at 1 p.m., at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home with Rev. David Sugarbaker officiating.

Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
