MAYSVILLE | Betty Jane Hamm, 77, of Jersey Ridge Road, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at Meadowview Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Hamm was born in May's Lick, on Feb. 24, 1934, to the late Granville and Della Hamilton Purcell.
Mrs. Hamm was a devoted and loving wife to Clyde Lee Hamm who passed away on Nov. 24, 1999. She was also a beloved mother to her daughter, Susan (Denny) Doyle; and two sons, Michael (Shasta) Hamm and Rick (Vicki ) Hamm. She was Granny Betty to seven grandchildren, Andy (Laura) Doyle, Lyle (Katie) Doyle, Lauren Cox, Jessica Hamm, Emilee Hamm, Shana Jackson, Lee Hamm and Katie Hamm. Granny Betty also had nine great-grandchildren, Alyssa Doyle, Savannah Doyle, Colin Doyle, Elise Belle Doyle, Landen Doyle, Elizabeth Cox, Drayden Browning, Marlee Crittendon and Gavin Ellis. Survivors also include one brother, Tommy Purcell of Maysville. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde; three sisters, Lilly Moore, Dorothy Gallenstein and Thelma Claypoole; and five brothers, Jim Purcell, Calvin Purcell, Cecil Purcell, Gene Purcell and Larry Purcell.
Mrs. Hamm loved and enjoyed her family. She was at her happiest during family gatherings. Betty was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church. Rev. Don Owens provided a wealth of support to Betty and her family during their time of need. Betty was her family's heart and soul. Her loss is immeasurable.
Services for Betty Jane Hamm will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at Brell and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Don Owens officiating.
Burial will follow in the May's Lick Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service on Sunday, at the funeral home.
