Stillwater News Press (OK) - October 23, 2008 Deceased Name: Lois Geraldine Calkins Lois Geraldine Calkins, 84, of Stillwater, died on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, in Stillwater. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday in Strode Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Broadway officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born on May 8, 1924, in Stillwater, to Glover Rader and Ida Jane (Ham) Rader. She was married to Cecil C. Rains for 28 years. From this union they had eight children. They divorced in 1970. She later married Darreld K. Calkins on Sept. 11, 1976. They have been married for 32 years. She worked for the Stillwater Public School system in the early years in the food service department. Later she worked at many retail shops in downtown Stillwater until retirement when they moved to Fort Myers, Fla. Lois enjoyed golf, time with her friends and family and trips to the beach. She was a very loving, compassionate woman, a one of a kind role model for her children and grandchildren. She also had a great sense of humor. She was an inspiration to her children, grandchildren and all those close to her. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Glover Rader Jr.; and four sisters, Gertrude (Chig) Jones, Marie Gardner, Lucille Lakey and Maudine Oliver. She is survived by her husband, Darreld Calkins, of Stillwater; one sister, Ruby McCullaugh of Woodburn, Ore.; her children, Cecil (Corky) Rains and his wife, Helen, of Amarillo, Texas, Dan Rains of Stillwater, Cindy Friedemann of Dallas, Texas, Sam Rains and his wife, Michele, of Stillwater, Randy Rains and his wife, Tracy, of Stillwater, Kevin Rains of Amarillo, Teresa Axton and her husband, Terry, of Stillwater and Tammy Rains and her husband, Ronnie, Seymour of Beaumont, Texas; step-sons, Ken Calkins of Kentucky, Greg Calkins of California and Cary Calkins of Austin, Texas. Other survivors include 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Crohns and Colitis Foundation, 386 Park Avenue S, 17th Fl., New York, NY, 10016.
