William A. Riley, Hagerstown Man, Dies After Illness

William Alvin Riley, age 60, a resident of Knightstown, died at the Henry County Hospital Thursday afternoon after an illness of one week duration. (His birth year was approximated.)

Mr. Riley was a member of the Christian Church at Headgrassey, KY and the American Federation of Labor. In recent years he worked as a road construction foreman for the McManus Company of Rochester, IN. He also had been employed by the S. J. Graves Co. of Springfield, IL.

Survivors are the wife, Viola Mae Riley; three sons: Bernie (Alvin) Riley & Coy E. Riley, both of Knightstown and William C. Riley, reported to be en route home from Korea; two daughters: Mrs. Jennie Yapp of Knightstown and Mrs. Julia Absher of Denver, CO; four brothers: Mance Riley of Hillsboro, KY, Jack Riley of Emerson, KY and John Riley & Willis Riley both of Headgrassey, KY; fifteen grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Raysville Friends Church with Rev. Cleo Cox officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery.

The body will be taken to the Butcher Funeral Home in Knightstown and will be removed Saturday afternoon to the home of Paul Yapp, north of Knightstown, where friends may call after 7:00 p.m. Saturday.
