Jim Blanton, 70, died September 7 at River View Manor Nursing Home in Prestonsburg after an extended illness. Mr. Blanton was born February 7, 1913, in Johnson County, a son of Edd and Hattie Howard Blanton. He was a resident of Flat Gap, a retired farmer and member of the United Baptist Church. His wife, Mae Colvin Blanton, preceded him in death April 7, 1983. Surviving are three daughters, Faye McGee, London, OH Phyllis Gambill, Flat Gap, and Joan Capps, Keaton; three brothers, John Blanton, Volga, Melvin Blanton, Owensburg, and Jack Blanton, Win, KY; four sisters, Alta Cantrell, Flat Gap, Della McKenzie, Elna, Ethel Curtis and Mary Cochran, Oil Springs; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services conducted by Elders J. T. Bailey and Eual McKenzie at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel Friday, September 9. Burial was in William Cemetery, Oil Springs.
