Bessie Florence Stone, age 99, of Bartlett Drive, Morehead, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the Life Care Center of Morehead.

Born October 26, 1915, at Fitch, Kentucky, in Rowan County, she was one of 13 children of Alvin Sloan and Josephine Evans Sloan. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; her devoted husband of 71 years and 9 months, Donald Stone, who passed away in 2007; and one son, David Stone, in 1974.

She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Stone of Morehead and Lou Ella Lowe of Lexington; six grandchildren, Steve Stone, Mark Lowe, Deborah Walker, Jennifer Tolliver, Tim Lowe, and Daphne Stone; nine great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.

Bessie was a former employee of the Big Store, Cowden's Manufacturing, Hobbs Department Store, and the First Church of God Day Care. A lifelong member of the First Church of God, she was known as a Godly woman who was always doing for others. She had been a member of the choir, the FCG quilters, and Women of the Church of God. She was also a Sunday school teacher and served communion with her husband Don, who was an usher and trustee of the church. Bessie lived her life with dignity and was meticulous in thought and deed. Her presence will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Morehead First Church of God with Pastor Allan Hutchinson officiating and Trevor Stone and Jacob Steagall participating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers: Mark Lowe, Timmy Lowe, Steve Stone, Trevor Stone, Sam Tolliver, Bill Tolliver, Gary Walker, and Seth Lowe.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
