George Monroe Whisman, age 69, of Mount Sterling Road, Flemingsburg, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at the Fleming County Hospital in Flemingsburg. Born January 14, 1944, in Hillsboro, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Woodrow and Doris Easton Whisman. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Kathy Whisman Emmons. George is survived by his wife of 21 years, Peggy Ravenscraft Whisman, whom he married January 3, 1992; two daughters, Michelle McBride and husband Vernon of Rising Sun, Indiana, and Jennifer Stacy and husband Jeff of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; and five grandchildren, Dylan McBride, Dustin McBride, Becca Stacy, Destinee Deininger, and Savana Mauch. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles Whisman of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and Tommy Whisman of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; two sisters, Mary Hamilton of Sunman, Indiana, and Nannie Manning of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; two step brothers, Kenny Fry and Gary Fry, both of Fleming County, Kentucky; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. George retired from Sun Chemical Company in Cincinnati, Ohio, and enjoyed farming and gardening. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Hutton Funeral Home with Brother Gerald Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in the Whisman Cemetery. Pallbearers: Cody Pyles, Chase Whisman, Dylan McBride, Dustin McBride, Vernon McBride, Jeff Stacy, Jimmy Clarkston, and Rocky Perry. Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2013, at Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
