Romey J. Hilderbrand

Romey J. Hilderbrand, 74, of Carthage, died Thursday, Nov. 24, at his home.

He was born June 2, 1931 in Olive Hill, Ky., a son of the late John H. and Bessie M. (Henderson) Hilderbrand.

Mr. Hilderbrand retired from Carthage Container Corporation after 19 years of service and was later a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Carthage and he loved to fish and spend time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Vada O. (Butler) Hilderbrand of Carthage; two sons, Steven J. (friend, Dawn Cooper) Hilderbrand of Carthage, B. Scott (wife, Michelle) Hilderbrand of Carthage; three daughters, Joan (husband, Steve) Dick of Carthage, Jeannie (husband, Jeff) Sorrell of Carthage, Connie (husband, Larry) Rumple of Knightstown; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Allen Hilderbrand of Olive Hill, Ky., Leronis Hilderbrand of Talulu, La.; three sisters, Vesta Ellison of Kennard, Bethel Loftis of Gordon, W. Va., and Opal Rayburn of Olive Hill, Ky.

Mr. Hilderbrand was preceded in death by six brothers, Lester, Luther, Clesta, Lovene, Archie and Artest Hilderbrand; and three sisters, Olive Ellison, Martha Riley and Alma Hamm.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Dave Gates and Harold Smith officiating. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation was from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, at the funeral home.
