OBITUARY AND TRIBUTE

(to St. Clair Bowen by Ernest Fisher)

Mr. St. Clair Bowen was born February 18, 1871, at Limestone, Carter County, Kentucky. He was the son of Malinda and Moses Jackson Bowen, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Bowen was united in marriage to Miss Ella Johnson on February 18, 1892, and to this union eleven children were born, namely: Mrs. Lou Reeder, Haldeman, Ky., Mrs. Nettie Reeder, Upper Tygart, Ky., Mrs. Della McDonald, Knightstown, Indiana, Mrs. Dovie Hinton, Haldeman, Ky., Mrs. Lillie Stinson, (note: Lillie was first married to Mance Stinson, second to Sherman Earlywine), Knightstown, Indiana, Mrs. Emma Fugate, and Mrs. Olive Vance, Ashland, Ky., Samuel Bowen, Haldeman, Ky., Luther, Bowen, deceased, George H. Bowen, somewhere in North Africa, (war), Claudie C. Bowen, Haldeman, Ky.

Mr. Bowen departed this life on July 16, 1943, at 6:00 p.m., of complications. He leaves to mourn his death; ten children, 7 girls and three boys; 42 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Lyda Evans and Mrs. Sibbie Glover, of Upper Tygart, Ky., and one brother, Willard Bowen, Haldeman, Ky., and a host of close relatives and friends.

Inasmuch as it has pleased Almighty God in His Infinite Wisdom to call this dear father and friend from his earthly home to his Heavenly Home on High, the community has lost a just, useful and valuable citizen; the family a kind, dutiful and loving father. Uncle Sink, as we have known him for 20 years or more, was an ardent, loyal, and ever faithful worker until his retirement, and in his passing we can only say it is our loss but Heaven's gain, and in bowing with humble submission to Him who doeth all things well, we wish to extend to the sorrowing family our sincere and heartfelt sympathy, with a fervent prayer that God's blessing will rest upon them and His grace will abide in them forevermore. Sincerely, a friend, Ernest Fisher
