Ruth Zornes Hogge, age 77 of Cranston Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011, at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington after a brief illness.

She was born February 8, 1934, in Lewis County, Kentucky to the late Leslie and Pheba Creswell Zornes.

She was an active member of the Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church and a member of the Rowan County Democratic Executive Board Committee for 15 years and was the Pine Grove Precinct Chairwoman for nearly 40 years. She also served as a member of the Hogge Cemetery Association. She was an advocate for the homeless and needy families of the area and enjoyed helping others. Her greatest joy was her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elder Irvin L. Hogge, her son Clyde Hayes and a brother Kenneth Zornes.

Survivors include three daughters, Lois Hayes Hawkins of Morehead, Kentucky, Shawani Hogge Kaiser of Springboro, Ohio and Sandi Hogge Whitaker of Morehead, Kentucky. Three brothers, Leroy (Faye) Zornes of Morehead, Kentucky, Ralph (Molly) Zornes and Roscoe (Sandy) Zornes of Bucyrus, Ohio. Nine grandchildren, Amy Hawkins-Nickell, Jarred Hayes, Austin Hayes, Amanda Hayes-Ison, Sarah Kaiser, Michelle Kaiser, Joey Kaiser, Stormi Long-Jessee and Shelby Long. Four Great-Grandchildren Caden Lee Nickell, Caleb Lucas Nickell, Cameron Nickell and Landon Jessee. Also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Elder Paul Trautner officiating. Burial will follow in the Hogge Cemetery at Cranston.

Visitation at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.
