Herbert Blanton, 65, of 1628N SR 15, Wabash, died Jan. 19, 1998 at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.

He was born May 5, 1932 at Paintsville, KY to Manford and Shella Jayne Blanton.

He married Winona Chalfant on April 7, 1960 in Falcon, KY. He worked at General Tire for 33=1/2 years, retiring in 1981. He also owned and operated Blanton Antenna Service for 20 years. He attended Wabash Freewill Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Winona of Wabash; a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Debbie) Henderson of Wabash; his stepmother, Norma Blanton of Salyersville, KY; three brothers - John Blanton of Ashland, KY, Willie Blanton of Walton, KY and Tyra Blanton of Marion, OH; and four sisters - Hazel Boyd of Louisville, KY, Ethel Colvin of Oil Springs, KY, Ada Caudill of Ashland, KY, and Shelly Litteral of Salyersville, KY; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Junior Blanton and a sister, Virginia Battista.

Friends may call today (Wednesday) 4-8 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen, Manchester Avenue Chapel. Funeral service will take place Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel, 1177 Manchester Ave., Wabash, IN with the Revs. Tim Prater and Bill Bowling officiating. Burial will take place in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash
