Bobby W. Goodwin, 69, of New Castle, died March 15 at St. Vincent's Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born March 22, 1939, in Flemingsburg, Ky., a son of the late Lawrence and Edith (Medlin) Goodwin.

Mr. Goodwin was a 1958 New Castle High School graduate and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis after 35 years of service. Mr. Goodwin opened Goodwin Bail Bonding for over 32 years and also served on the New Castle Police Department. He was named Outstanding New Castle Police Officer of the Year in 1974. Mr. Goodwin served on the New Castle City Council for four years and was very active in the Republican party for man years, running for mayor and sheriff. Recently, he was employed as the head doorkeeper at the Indiana House of Representatives in Indianapolis. A Ford Mustang enthusiast, he was a member of several Mustang car clubs, as well as the Greensboro Masonic Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars #1282, the Henry County Shriners and the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Jo (Cecil) Goodwin of New Castle; a daughter, Kathie (husband, Leo "Buddy) Whitlow of Richmond, Va.; three sons, Michael Wayne (wife, Monica) Goodwin of Suffolk, Va., Gary Bruce (wife, Dana) Goodwin of Fayetteville, N.C., and Tony Goodwin of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Jason Crouch and Nathan (wife, Belinda) Crouch, both of Richmond, Va., Spencer Goodwin of Fayetteville, N.C., and Matthew Goodwin of Suffolk, Va.; a brother, Elmer "Pete" (wife, Norma) Goodwin of Henderson, Nev.; two sisters, Jane (husband, Bob) Billings of Indianapolis and Judy (husband, Odell) Stevens of O'Fallon, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Friday, March 20, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Dr. Linda Philabaun and State Representative Tom Saunders officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle.
