Robert Rainey Pugh, 85, of Owensboro died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009,
at Owensboro Medical Health System, with his family at his bedside. He
was born July 27, 1924, in Ashland to the late Marvin Pugh and Mae Clark
Pugh. He had been a licensed real estate broker since 1951 and retired
from the Corps of Army Engineers in Huntington, W.Va., real estate
district, where he was an appraiser. He was a member of Owensboro
Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Martha Pugh
and Kathryn Caron.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Janice Higgs Pugh; a son,
Robert Pugh Jr. of Owensboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and
Pat McCarty and Lee Ann and Dean Edmonson, both of Utica; four
grandchildren, Derek Kindle and Chad Kindle, Joshua Edmonson and Marley
Edmonson; two great-grandchildren; a half-brother, George Pugh of
Richmond, Va.; and a nephew, Robert Caron of Houston.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home
and Crematory. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will
be from 2 to 6 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the time of service
