Lila E. McRoberts, age 94, of Knightstown, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Glen Oaks Health Campus in New Castle following an extended illness. She was born August 10, 1914 in Golf, KS, the daughter of Ed and Maude (Jones) Plank.

She had been employed at a canning factory, bakery, Central Grade School in Knightstown, then retired from Western Electric in Indianapolis. A longtime member of Ogden United Methodist Church, she loved her church and had sang in the choir there. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, flowers, gardening and being outside in general.

She leaves to cherish her memory four children: Ed (Ann Marie) McRoberts of New Castle, Erma (Ronald) Elliott, Peggy (Pete) Williams both of Knightstown and Bonnie (Harold) Bailey of Niles, MI; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren, including a special great granddaughter, Kloie Williams; six great-great grandchildren; two sisters: Rosie Roller of Springfield, IL and Ileta McDonald of Knightstown; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest McRoberts in 1992; a son, Earnest McRoberts Jr.; a brother, Carl Plank; and two sisters: Faye Brooks and Ruby Nicholas.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Hinsey Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Pastor Carolyn Stoten officiating. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Ogden United Methodist Church.
