
<i>The Banner Online</i><br>April 16, 2003<br><br>A long time Knightstown resident, Harley C. Purtee, 85, died Friday, April 11 at Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield.<br><br>He was born September 28, 1917 in Wilmington, Ohio, a son of the late Roy and Lilly (Ersel) Purtee.<br><br>Mr.
 Purtee was a self-employed carpenter retiring in 1994. He was a World 
War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a member of 
the VFW. He was also a member of the Ogden United Methodist Church. He 
was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener.<br><br>Survivors include his
 wife of 63 years, Lelah (Brammer) Purtee of Knightstown; two sons, Dan 
(wife Mary Jo) Purtee of Knightstown, and David (wife Midge) Purtee of 
North Muskegon, Mich.; one daughter, Sharon (husband Kenneth) Miller of 
Knightstown; five grandchildren, William, James, Melissa, Megan and 
Matthew Purtee; two great-grandchildren, Quinn and Jessica Purtee; one 
sister, Ella Clevenger of New Vienna, Ohio; and several nieces and 
nephews.<br><br>He was preceded in death by a brother, James Purtee and two sisters, Mildred Copas and Mary Quigley.<br>
<br>Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 15 in the Condo &amp; Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Alan McCraine officiating.<br>
<br>Burial was in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with graveside military rites.<br><br>Visitation was held at the funeral home on Tuesday prior to the service.
