Roland Lee Hamm, 78, of Arkansas City, died Sunday (July 22, 2018) at the Via Christi Medical Center - St. Francis Campus of Wichita. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00p.m. Thursday (July 26, 2018) at the Springside Cemetery of Arkansas City. Pastor Gale Rider will officiate. The family will greet friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Roland was born February 14, 1940, in Arkansas City, to Roland L. and Delores (Clark) Hamm. He was reared and educated in Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1958. He married Velma French on July 9, 1962, in Arkansas City. Roland worked for Mauer-Neuer/Rodeo Meats for several years, then for Montgomery Elevator. He also owned and operated Hamm’s Country Marine for 20 years. Roland enjoyed camping, boating and time with his family. Those left to mourn his passing and honor his memory include his wife, of 56 years, Velma of the home; three children Debbie and husband Kenneth Dillard of Winfield, Monica and husband Blaine Reed of Arkansas City, Byron Hamm of Detroit, Michigan; four half brothers and sisters Caroline Williams, Kenneth Mounger, Mike Mounger, and Debbie Thompson all of the Boosier City/Shreveport, Louisiana area. Five grandchildren Dustin Hamm, Kaitlyn Dillard, Blake, Brandon, and Brittany Reed; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial has been established with the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
