MAYSVILLE -- Howard Brammer, 86, died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at his home.

He was born on May 2, 1925, to the late Fleming and Erma Muse Brammer.

He was a real estate broker and insurance agent in Maysville, he was a member of Maysville First Christian Church, Deacon, Elder, Elder Emertius, Past Chairman of the Board, and a Trustee of the church; a member of Maysville Rotary Club, Past President, from the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International he was named a Paul Harris Fellow; 32nd Degree Mason; Vice President of Chamber of Commerce, member of Maysville V.F.W.; DAV; Moose; American Legion; City Commissioner over Police and Fire Departments; Chairman of Urban Renewal; Maysville Housing Authority Board of Commissioners; 2008 Grand Marshall for Maysville's 4th of July Parade;he was a World War II veteran; he earned a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, and several other medals while serving his country.

He was the owner of the White Light Restaurant for many years and was known for the famous White Light hamburgers.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Hampton Brammer whom he married Nov. 27, 1946. He is also survived by his son, Larry (Randi) Brammer of Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren, Neil F. Brammer, Hillary Brammer Bendle, Jessica M. Brammer Lennartz and Rex R. Brammer; two great-grandchildren, Landon C. Bendle and Nea J. Brammer. He is survived by one brother, Eugene Brammer of Maysville.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Wardlow Brammer, Prentice Brammer, Leon Brammer and Jackie Brammer; and one sister, Mary Sallie Frost. Services are 11 a.m., Tuesday at Maysville First Christian Church.

Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday at the church.
