Eugene F. Ross, Sr., 82, of Carlisle, formerly of Flemingsburg, husband of Patty Fryman Ross, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 at Nicholas County Hospital in Carlisle. Born November 23, 1931 in Fleming County, he was the son of the late Nolan Newton and Mildred Thelma Johnson Ross. Eugene was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired U.S. Postal worker. He was a member of Fleming Lodge #30 I.O.O.F. Eugene was very close to his family, which he dearly loved, especially his daughter, Gena, the "apple of his eye". An avid UK fan, Eugene also loved his little dog "Katie", who sat in his lap while he would watch UK. Besides his wife, he is survived by: a daughter, Gena Maribeth Ross of Flemingsburg; step-sons, David Shrout of Flemingsburg, Barry Shrout of Maysville, and Patrick (Becky) Sparks of Mt. Sterling; a step-daughter, Erin "Molly" Mae Sparks of Mt. Sterling; grandchildren, Madison Keaton, Cheyenne Crawford, Justin Crawford; step-grandchildren, Austin Flynn, Aaron Abner, and Adriana Abner; and special cousins, Lena Harmon, Jenny Reed, and Gracie Hardyman. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, March 28, 2014 at Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home (formerly know as Denton-Workman Funeral Home) by the Rev. Norman Wasson. Visitation will be 11am until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fleming County Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post #1834. Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Care Club, P.O.
