Melvie Charles Brammer, age 91, of Knightstown, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Brandywine Living Center in Greenfield. He was born December 29, 1918 in Sabetha, KS, the son of Ernest and Myrtle (Hamilton) Brammer.
Melvie was a member of the Knightstown Christian Church for 52 years where he had been a former deacon and treasurer for 25 years. He retired from Conrail Railroad with 42 1/2 years of service. He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking. He and his wife enjoyed camping for many years, belonging to Good Sam and Allison Camping Clubs. His most favorite past times were enjoying his family and his faith.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy 'Lucile' Ulrey Brammer of Knightstown; a son, Charles (Beverly) Brammer of Greenfield; a daughter, Delona (Danny) Vaughn of Frankton; four grandchildren: Ryan (Carissa) Brammer of Indianapolis, John (Tisha) Cox of Anderson, Rodney (Debbie) Cox of Knightstown and Rene (Jerry Jr.) Powell of Frankton; six great grandchildren: Clayton Cox of CO, Matthew Cox of Knightstown, Tyler and Cory Cox both of Knightstown, Emily Cox of Anderson and Garth Powell of Frankton; three step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Brammer of Anderson; a sister, Jewel Collins of Ft. Wayne; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Alvie Brammer; and grandson, Marcus Cox.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Hinsey Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Reverends Richard Thayer and Anthony Darling officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2010 at the chapel. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Knightstown Christian Church, P.O.
