Tommy Brammer was born on February 13, 1907 in Muses Mills, Kentucky the son of Thomas Brammer and Etta McRoberts Brammer. He was one of eleven children born to this union. The family moved to the Woodlawn, Nemaha County Kansas in 1909. Tommy attended several one room schools for his early education. He was united in marriage to LuVerne Jacobia on August 4, 1928 and to this union were born Robert L. Brammer, Merlin (Doc) Brammer and Galen R. Brammer. Tommy and LuVerne made their home in Sabetha, Kansas where he was in business most of his adult life. He worked for Parks Produce during the early thirty's then with Swift & Company of Sabetha. After closing the Swift operation in the late thirty's he organized and managed the Seymour Packing Company in Sabetha. He later purchased the buying station and named the business Brammer Poultry & Egg. He operated this business until 1962 when he sold out and became an auctioneer and worked for Brey Motors along with driving a school bus for USD #441. He was on the Board of Directors of NEK-CAP and was instrumental in the organization and the building of the Sabetha Community Center. He was a devout Christian, he was faithful to God and his church for nearly eighty years. Tommy died on September 30, 2007 at the Cobblestone Court in Sabetha at the age of 100. He was preceded in death by his parents; nine siblings; his wife, LuVerne Brammer; a son, Merlin (Doc) Brammer; a daughter-in-law, Ramona Brammer Scheid; a step grandson, Randy Colvin. Tommy is survived by two sons, Robert and his wife Darlene Brammer of Atwater, California and Galen and his wife, Ruth Brammer of Sabetha, Kansas; a sister, Wilda Davis of Chicago, Illinois and six grandchildren, Gregory Brammer, Cynthia Kuhle, Candace Cease, Lori Bergman, Douglas Brammer and Rodney Colvin and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday, October 5, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at the Sabetha Wesleyan Church. Family visitation will be Thursday, October 4, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be in the Sabetha Cemetery.
