Harold Eugene Brown, age 91, of Brown Lane, Morehead, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016, at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore after an extended illness Born April 10, 1924, in Rowan County at Dry Branch Road, he was a son of the late George Washington and Sadie Jane Clark Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Willie Brown, Ernie Brown and Wilford Brown, and sisters Grace Yoder, Geraldine Tompkins, Juanita Cooper, Flora Logan, and Wilma Hadwin. On January 27, 1946, Harold was united in marriage to his loving wife of 62 years, Myrtle Faye Gulley Brown, who passed away November 8, 2007. He was also preceded in death by a son, Dallas DeWayne Brown, on June 1, 2014, and a son-in-law, Paul Boudreaux on May 8, 2013. He is survived by one son, Randy Eugene and Beverly Brown of Nicholasville; two daughters, Linda Boudreaux of Morehead and Lesa and Tom Crose of Farmland, Indiana; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Ropars Brown of Morehead; nine grandchildren, Tony Brown, Kevin Brown, Jeremy Boudreaux, Ryan Brown, Joshua Cooper, Matthew Boudreaux, Brady Brown, Erin Brown Cothran, and Adam Brown; nine great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. Other survivors include two brothers, Fred Brown and Claude Brown, both of Morehead; two sisters, Geneva Whittle of Morehead and Madeline Sewell of Muncie, Indiana; and extended family members and friends. Mr. Brown honorably served his country as a U.S. Army sergeant during the World War II Era and was a former highway construction worker and lifelong farmer. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Morehead. Recognized as a community-minded person, he was quick to help family and friends alike. A tireless volunteer, he was a specialist in fixing electrical appliances and was greatly appreciated for his water witching expertise used often to help neighbors locate specific locations for water wells. He was also a tri-ominoes master and accomplished wood carver. Most of all, he was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who will be greatly missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Michael Anderson and Rev. Lloyd Dean officiating. Burial will follow in Clark Cemetery on Cranston Road with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
