Funeral
 services were held in the Chapel of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home at 
11 a.m. today, January 22 for George Blanton, Jr., a former member of 
Johnson County fiscal court and trial commissioner.  Blanton succumbed 
to a lengthy illness that forced his retirement as Johnson County trial 
commissioner last year. Born December 26, 1923, he was the son of George
 and Addie Prichard Blanton, Sr. and was a member of the United Baptist 
Church. Surviving are his wife, Betty Seagraves Blanton; 1 son, Harold 
Blanton of Delaware, OH; a brother, Sanford Blanton of Volga; 2 sisters,
 Sally Pelphrey of Volga and Addie Blanton of Oil Springs and 2 
grandchildren. Reverends Eual McKenzie and Arnold Reed officiated at the
 services with burial was in family cemetery at Volga. Arrangements were
 under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home. Paintsville
