Mrs. Lois Blanton, 41, of Volga, died Friday morning, January 3, in the Paintsville Hospital following a short illness. Mrs. Blanton was born November 26, 1933, in Lawrence County, the daughter of the late Leonard and Esta Lewis Skaggs. She was affiliated with the Enterprise Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Sanford Blanton; 2 step son, Billy Blanton of Columbus and Charles Blanton of Volga; 2 daughters, Berta Castle of Paintsville; Linda Fyffe of Flat Gap; 1 step daughter, Joan Blair of Oil Springs; 6 brothers, Curt, Lowell, Ken, Emery, Frank and Earl Skaggs and 5 sisters, Vicie Tackett, Margie Holbrook, Ruth Holbrook, Faye Holbrook and Joyce Rigsby. Funeral services were held Sunday, January 5, under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home at the Staffordsville Freewill Baptist Church with Paula Keaton, Hager Kelly and Homer Evans as officiating ministers. Burial was in the family cemetery at Volga. Paintsville Herald
