Woodrow Wilson McCarty, 75, Cynthiana, died recently at his residence. Mr. McCarty, a retired farmer, was born August 1, 1913 in Johnson County, the son of the late Oscar and Leaner Williams McCarty. He was a member of the United Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Dovie Blanton McCarty; 3 sons, Onley McCarty of Rosenburg, TX, Wendell McCarty of Louisville, and Phillip McCarty of Cynthiana; 3 daughters, Lovella Schneider of Cynthiana, Phyllis Bush of Grayson, and Neva Adaline Copley of Ashland; 2 brothers, Clyde McCarty of Oil Springs and Joe McCarty of Ashland; 3 sisters, Jessie Lemaster of Oil Springs and Dollie Salyer and Esther Reynolds both of Ashland; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland with Bill Bush officiating. Burial was in Bowling Cemetery in Boyd County. Paintsville Herald, Wednesday, May 17, 1989
