Oma Reed McCarty, 81, died February 15 at U. K. Medical Center in Lexington. She was born February 15, 1903 in Johnson County, the daughter of Asa and Rebecca Reed. She was a member of the United Baptist Church and a resident of Oil Springs. Surviving are her husband, Espa McCarty; 3 sons, Ray McCarty of Oil Springs, Robert McCarty of Lexington, and Freddie McCarty of Nippa; a daughter, Etta Mae Lafferty of Oil Springs; a sister, Hazel Arms of Michigan; 5 grandchildren. Funeral services were held February 18 in Low Gap United Baptist Church with Elders Danny Williams, Wayne Blair, James H. Blair, and Frankie Williams officiating.
