Halleck McCarty, 82, died December at his Oil Springs home. Mr. McCarty was born May 28, 1901, in Johnson County, the son of Jim and Elizabeth Cantrell McCarty. Surviving are his wife, Ella McKenzie McCarty, three sons, Burl McCarty, Hager Hill, Walter McCarty, Georgia, and Joe McCarty, Springfield, Ohio, three daughters, Maxie McCarty and Mary Ward, Oil Springs, and Helen Lemaster, Springfield, 26 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held December 7 in Low Gap United Baptist Church with Elders, Lonza Reed, Wayne Blair and Frankie Williams officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery at Oil Springs, under the direction of Paintsville Funeral Home.
