Edith Blanch Buchanan Ross was born on Christmas Eve, 1923 and she met her Lord and Savior in Heaven on August 13, 2016 at the age of 92. She was a mother, grandmother, and dear friend to many. Born in Ewing, the daughter of the late Ab and Rebecca Buchanan, she grew up with very humble beginnings and was one of twenty-three siblings. She married Alexander "Doc" Ross in 1937 and they shared their life together for 62 years. She was a mother to five children, a grandmother to 12, a great-grandmother to 23 and numerous great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ross spent her life making a home, raising children, farming with her husband and being a friend. She retired from US Shoe Factory after 27 years and she remembered her time there spent with friends fondly. She valued staying active and had numerous hobbies. She loved making quilts and crafts, cooking big meals for her family, gardening, canning, playing Bingo, shopping with her daughters, talking on the phone with her many friends and watching University of Kentucky Basketball. She loved opening her home to others and she sincerely enjoyed just sitting and visiting. She was a devoted member of Victory Assembly of God, where she worshipped the Lord and loved her church family. The greatest love of her life was her children, which she cherished. Robert (Jane) Ross, Tommy (Mary Ann) Ross, Bobby (Judy) Ross, Anna (Charles) Crislip, Terrell Ross and Brenda (Dickie) Dillon. She was preceded in death by Terrell, Robert, and most recently, Bobby, in a tragic accident the day before Mrs. Ross passed. The Lord saw it fit to take her home to Heaven before bearing the loss of losing another one of her beloved children. She truly was far more precious than rubies and perfectly modeled the character of a Proverbs 31 woman. "Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive and beauty if fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Victory Assembly of God officiated by Pastor Larry Joseph. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Tuesday, August 16th at the church. Burial will be in Elizaville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Dr., Maysville, KY 41056 or to Victory Assembly of God, 587 Taylor Mill Rd., Flemingsburg, KY 41041. Carpenter-Fritz & Vice Funeral Home is in care of funeral arrangements.
