Mrs. Grace Fleming Helphenstine, wife of Carl T. Helphenstine, retired Fleming County farmer, died at 1:30 am yesterday at her home at Hillsboro.

Mrs. Helphenstine, 72, had been in failing health for about six years but only seriously ill the last three days. Death resulted from complications.

Born in Hoopston, Ill. on July 2, 1891, the deceased was the daughter of the late Enoch Fleming and Belle Duley Fleming. She was a member of the Ringos Christian church and had lived in the Hillsboro community for the past 46 years.

Mrs. Helphenstine had a sympathetic and kind nature which endeared her to a multitude of friends who will be sorry to learn of her passing.

Surviving in addition to her husband are four sons, Floyd and Eugene Helphenstine, of Hillsboro, Omar Helphenstine, of Cincinnati [only three were listed]; six daughters, Mrs. Vivian Hunt, Maysville, Mrs. Garr Hurst and Mrs. Fred Crump, Flemingsburg, Mrs. Calvin Shelton, Cincinnati, Mrs. Lloyd Sanders, New Jersey, and Mrs. Don Wilcott, East Point, Ky.

Also she leaves two brothers, Vern Fleming, of Indiana, and Andrew Fleming, of Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. R. M. Jones and Mrs. Lon Griffin, of Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Wednesday at the Hutton Funeral home, Hillsboro, with the Rev. Delmore Cooper officiating, assisted by the Rev. Myron Barnett. Burial will be in the Hillsboro cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Serving as active pall bearers will be Calvin Shelton, Drexel Conley, Bill Harmon, Jess Hunt and Lowell Sorrell. Honorary bearers will be Curt Todd, Johnny Sorrell, Elmer Jett, Omar Sanders, Clem Sorrell and Jess Pickrell.
