Erie Blanton Fairchild, 91, of Oil Springs, died Friday, June 16, at St. Marys Hospital, Huntington, W.Va. Born Jan. 19. 1915, in Johnson County, she was a daughter of the late Sanford J. and Hester Burchett Blanton. She was a homemaker. Survivors include three sons, James S. "Bill" Fairchild, Denzil Fairchild, and Gary Fairchild, all of Oil Springs; four daughters, Jewell Salyers of Paintsville, Loretta Holden of Louisville, Donna Morgan of Elizabethtown, and Diane Blanton of Oil Springs; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 20, at Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel, Paintsville, with Jerry Scott officiating. Burial was in Blanton Family Cemetery, Low Gap, Oil Springs, under direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home. Big Sandy News June 2006
