Eugene Fairchild, 66, died Tuesday, Nov 18, in Audubon Hospital, Louisville. Mr. Fairchild was born Sep 8, 1914 in Johnson Co., the son of Jim and Lu Howard Fairchild, Van Lear. He was a resident of Louisville and a retired employee of the Kentucky Department of Highways. Surviving are his mother, Lu Fairchild, his wife, Erie Blanton Fairchild; eight sons, Gale, Harold, James, Delmer, Euel, and Denzel Fairchild, Oil Springs, Gary, Sitka and Elwood, Louisville; six daughters, Donna Conley, Diane Fairchild and Jewell Salyer, Oil Springs, Loretta Holden, Louisville, Carol Shew, Chicago, IL, and Virginia Craft, Meally; one brother, Bennie Fairchild, Oak Hill, OH; five sisters, Malta Blair, Alma McCarty, June Blair, and Margie Fairchild, Paintsville, and May Lemaster, Thealka; 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held Friday, Nov 21, in Low Gap United Baptist Church, Oil Springs, with Elders Lonza Reed and Eual McKenzie.
