Norman (Norm) A. Spiker, son of Howard P. and Minnie A. Vanderslice Spiker, was born October 8, 1903, at Wetmore. He died June 18, 1990. at the Sabetha Community Hospital. He was 86. Norman attended Bethanyt School until he was old enough to help on the family farm. He was a farmer and stockman his entire life. He farmed in the Woodlawn, Wetmore and Granada areas, but returned to the family farm, which was known as the "Spiker Corner," where he farmed as long as his health permitted. On December 30,1925 he was married to Alice Lewman. She died October 10, 1989. Also preceding him death were four sisters and three brothers. Survivors include a daughter Minnie Yoder, of Kansas City, Ks.; a brother, William Spiker of Horton; a sister, Lola Jordan, of Indiana;; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Popkess Morturary Chapel in Sabetha on June 211, at 10:30 a.m. Paswtor Bud Chester officiated. Casketbearers were Steve Aeschliman, Denzel Baumgartner, David Bindel, Keith Hailey, Jr. McClain and Ed Smith. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
