Viola Pickrell Riddle, age 86, of Treadway Drive, Owingsville, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, at her residence. She was born April 14, 1931, at Fairview in Fleming County, a daughter of the late Henry Thomas and Lena Rivers Lewis Pickrell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Floyd Pickrell, and one sister, Lella Mae Caudill. Her husband, James Thomas “Speedy” Riddle, whom she wed June 15, 1949, passed away June 4, 2016. Mrs. Riddle is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Butch) Buttry of Dunedin, Florida, and Regina (Paul) Bush of Owingsville; one sister, Violet Conyers of Mt. Sterling; five grandchildren: Mark (Melissa) Buttry, Kelly Manley, Justin Cline, Derek Bush, and Greg Bush; and five great grandchildren: Steven Buttry, Jacob Buttry, Lily Rose Buttry Benjamin Manley, and Lillian Mae Bush. Viola was a well-known seamstress who excelled in sewing all types of garments and making alterations. She was also a former factory worker and former cook at Owingsville Elementary. She was an outgoing person who enjoyed meeting people, spending time with family and friends, and collecting thimbles and Depression glass. She was of the Christian faith.
