Stillwater NewsPress Mack Payne, 80, died on Monday, April 2, 2012 in Stillwater, Okla. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Shelton Cemetery in Stillwater with Dr. Norman Richmond officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mack was born on Oct. 26, 1931 in Stillwater, Okla., to Lloyd T. and Ruby L. (Ham) Payne. He attended school at Cottonwood Community Center, graduated from Stillwater High School and attended Oklahoma A&M. He married Karen Griffin in Stillwater on Dec. 30, 1960, and they were later divorced. He was a member of the Eagles and American Legion. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jay; and son, Griff. He is survived by his son, Ronnie Payne, and wife, Kathy, of Evanston, Wyo.; daughter, Dawn Dees, of Cushing, Okla.; two granddaughters, Brooke (Hooser) Smith, and husband, Tyson, of Crosby, Texas, and Samantha Hooser of Stillwater, Okla.; great-grandson, Ty David Smith of Crosby, Texas; brother, Bob Payne, of Stillwater, Okla.; and sister, Aniebel (Payne) Stevenson, of Watonga, Okla. Honorary pallbearers will include Bob Payne, Bruce Griffin, Doug Griffin, Tom Majors, Ernie Pickens, and Gregg Pickens.
