Mr. William Everett Elam, age 68, of Knightstown, Indiana, formerly of Vanceburg, Kentucky, passed away Saturday morning, April 12, 2014, at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He was born January 3, 1946, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Frank Elam and Elizabeth Barker Zornes.

William attended Hill Top Tabernacle and was a self employed carpenter. He enjoyed running and trading dogs, fishing, eating out, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Elam, five sisters, Hazel Elam, Maggie Elam, Lanore Clark, Dollie Elam, and Bonnie Gay Elam.

William is survived by his wife of 49 years, Helen Kay Helderbrand Elam; one son and daughter-in-law, Cory and Tressa Elam of Shelbyville, Indiana; two daughter and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Jack Driesbach of Greenfield, Indiana, Kelly and Dave Carrington of Knightstown, Indiana; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Theora Gose of Owingsville, Kentucky. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix, Kentucky, with Brother Danny Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the Morgan Cemetery on Highway 59 in Lewis County, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, and until the service hour on Wednesday at Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix, 7975 Lower Kinney Road, Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
