George W. Thompson, 67, of Muses Mills, KY passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 unexpectedly at Fleming County Hospital.

George was born in Muses Mills, KY to the late Fred and Ethel Thompson September 16, 1947. He’s a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served in the Army as an Armor Recon Specialist. George was also a member of the local VFW. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, and four-wheeling. George was a friend to many and a stranger to few. He enjoyed spending time talking to his brothers and making jokes. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Willa Marie, brothers; Robert and Gary Thompson, and sister, Katherine Toy. George is survived by his sons; Anthony Dewayne Thompson (Chris Lewis) of Lexington, Travis Thompson of Flemingsburg, and daughters; Cinthy Hardy ( Jeremiah) of Muses Mills, Shawnda Fizer ( Brandon) of Flemingsburg, grandchildren; Cassie and Andrew Hardy, Jackson and Jace Fizer, and Ian and Abby Lewis, brothers; Fred Howard ( Carol) , James ( Judy) all of Connersville, Indiana , Wilbur ( Anita) of Hillsboro , Virgil (Karen) of Bath County, Sherman ( Roma) of Acme, Pennsylvania, Glennis Thompson of Muses Mills, and Jackie Thompson of Wallingford, as well as many nieces and nephews he thought fondly of.

Funeral services will be held at 1PM Sunday January 11, 2015 at Boone- Nickell Funeral Home with longtime friend, Rev. Bill Compton officiating. Burial will follow at Muses Mills Cemetery with military rites performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post #5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834. Visitation will be Saturday from 5 – 8 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Scotty Thompson, Eric Thompson, Rodney Thompson, Jason Barnes, Travis Thomason, Jeremiah Hardy, Jerry Thompson, and Sherman Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his loving brothers.
