LITTLETON Josephine Royse, daughter of Malinda (sic Ethelinda Julia Adelia Filson) and Benjamin Royse, was born April 5, 1846, in Fleming county, Kentucky, and died October 1, 1935, at her home in Denison, aged 89 years, 5 months, and 26 days. She married Avery Littleton September 19, 1862. Five children were born to them: Charles and Russell of Denison, Mrs. Mattie Alton, of Los Angeles, Calif., Ben of Holton, and Mrs. Emma Dworak who died in 1920. Mr. and Mrs. Littleton moved near Holton in 1885, later coming to Denison where Mr. Littleton died in February, 1911. Mrs. Littleton was a member of the Methodist church since early womanhood and was a faithful attendant as long as she was able to go. She was a good neighbor; a loyal friend and considerate of others. She often expressed a desire that she would not be a care or burden to friends or relatives. Beside her children she leaves 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services were conducted Thursday by Rev. Omer Stanton, assisted by Rev. S. C. Tharp. Masdames Elsie and Florence Chestnut, Burgess Daniel and Cloud Braum sang "Shall We Gather at the River" and "Sweet By And By".
