George W. Mattingly Jr., 63, of Scott County, died at the Hospice Care Center on Saturday, March 27, 2004, following a fall and a struggle with cancer.

He was the husband of 37 years of Judith Mattingly.

A son of Nancy Roberts and the late George Mattingly, of Erlanger, he was a 1958 graduate of Erlanger Lloyd High School, attended the Northern Center of the University of Kentucky and had retired as a field engineer for IBM. He was a member of the Church of the Annunciation in Paris. He was an avid hiker and animal lover and received great pleasure from his volunteer work as a tax preparer with AARP.

Survivors include his wife; his mother; two sons, George III and Christopher; and a daughter-in-law, Tiffany Mattingly; three grand-children, Vincent, Grace and Joseph Mattingly; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Anita Mattingly, of Florence; a sister, Kay Pucket, of Las Vegas; three nieces, Susan and Tracy Mattingly and Beth Phelps; two great-nieces, Amanda Wilson and Autumn Phelps; and a great-nephew, David Hansen.

A memorial mass will be held at the Church of the Annunciation in Paris as soon as plans are complete. Johnson's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice or to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
