CARMEL- Ruth (Jones) Goodwin, of Carmel, age 96, passed away July 2, 2013 in Carmel surrounded by her family at home. She was born in Straughn, Indiana on December 17, 1916. Ruth was a graduate from Knightstown High School. She married Lovell Goodwin in 1933.

She lived most of her life in Henry County area and was a retiree of Western Electric. She was a member of the Major Hugh Dinwiddie Chapter, DAR of Knightstown and St. Marks Methodist Church in Carmel. While living in New Castle, she served as a Deacon at the First Christian Church, member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and Shakespeare Clubs and as a Henry County Library and Historical Society member and volunteer. She is remembered for her many years of service at the Methodist Church Youth Came at Lake Webster, Indiana. She enjoyed her family and years of travel, spanning many continents.

Surviving her are her two sons, David and Jerry Goodwin of Indianapolis; daughter, Louise Baldock of Carmel; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband; daughter, Electa Mae Goodwin; and a stepson, Dean Goodwin.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory with calling beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Eric Lee will be officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
