Mr. Donald Ray Butler, age 80, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Thursday morning, May 7, 2015, at his residence.

He was born April 1, 1935, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Elmo and Celia Cooley Butler.

Ray was a lifelong farmer and a member of Rose Ridge Apostolic Church. He was very active in his church and also enjoyed ginseng hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Butler and Thornt E. Butler, and two sisters, Madeline Lykins and Ona Alexander.

Ray is survived by his wife of 56 years, Garnet L. Kilgore Butler; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Karen Butler of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Roger Alexander of Olive Hill, Kentucky; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff and Jessica Alexander of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Tabitha and Andrew Kranz of Florida, David and Michelle Stillwell of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Eric and Julie Stillwell of Vanceburg, Kentucky; and nine great grandchildren, Tori Alexander, Hailee Eachus, Andrew Ray Alexander, Aleaha Alexander, James Stillwell, Danielle Stillwell, Elijah Stillwell, Noah Stillwell, and McKenzie Stillwell. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the Rose Ridge Apostolic Church on Rose Ridge in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Rodney Pennington, Brother Darrell Gollihue, and Pastor Johnny Neal Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery on Rose Ridge in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2015, and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Rose Ridge Apostolic Church.

David Stillwell, James Perry, Tyler Pennington, Nathen Pennington, Jodie Henderson, and Rodney Pennington will serve as pallbearers.
