Joseph Lee Hamm, 77, Martinsville, passed away at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on Saturday, April 30, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Leonard and Hellice (Van Cleave) Hamm. Joe worked as a ground mechanic at TWA Airlines and retired in November 1995. After retirement he was owner of Joe's Sports Bar in Morgantown from 1995 until 2007. He was also owner of Joe's Motorsports and raced at the Paragon Speedway, the Bloomington Speedway and throughout the Midwest. Joe enjoyed visiting and going to gatherings with fellow TWA retirees. Survivors are his wife, Martha Frances “Marti” (Pennington) Hamm, whom he married on January 26, 2000; sons, Rick Hamm and wife Cheri of Clayton, Ron Hamm and wife Carolyn of Fortville, Joe Hamm and wife Crystal of Monrovia and Gary Uhls and wife Angie of Mooresville; daughters, Carla Waltman and husband Rick of Nashville and Diana McCown; sister, Wanda Kindle and husband Benny of Monrovia; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Lee Eckleberry; brothers, Nick Taylor and Fred Hamm. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hall, Indiana, with Rev. Josh Cunningham officiating.
