Hubert Fanning, 44, died at the Good Samaritan hospital in Lexington Sunday, where he had been a patient for two weeks. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Fanning, he was a member of the Christian church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Satterfield Fanning; two daughters, Betty Jo Fanning, Arlington, Va., and Olivia, at home; two sons, Edward L. Fanning, U.S. Navy at Pensacola, Fla., and Joe, at home: three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Perry, Salt Lick, Mrs. Vernon Wilburn, Johnson Station, Miss., and Mrs. Alma Dickerson, Anderson, Indiana; one brother, Harold Fanning at Lexington. Funeral services were held at the Salt Lick Christian church Wednesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. James Nipper of Lexington. Burial was in Polksville cemetery. Pall bearers were Burl Carter, Oscar Conn, Hugh Karrick, Hansford McKenzie, Earl Williams, Joe Thompson and Dan Hill. Obit Bath County News Outlook, May 27, 1954, front page.
