James Paul Humphries, age 79, of Poplar Plains, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Meadowview Regional Hospital in Maysville. James Paul Humphries, Owner of Humphries Antiques, leaves a legacy as a great man of faith, a caring Pastor, a successful business man, a talented man, a man who has traveled around the world, yet called Poplar Plains home. He will be remembered as a man who has given those around him an example of what a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend looks like. Born August 12, 1939, in Fleming County, he was the son of the late Luther James and Emma Mae Saunders Humphries. James Paul is survived by his wife, Phyllis Butcher Humphries; one son, James E. Humphries and wife Lynn of Paris; one daughter, Tonya Ann Harber and husband Scott of Elizaville; and three grandchildren, Cory Harber, Ariel Harber, and Melanie Humphries. Also surviving are four brothers and sisters-in-law, William Earl and Bonnie Humphries, Harold Ray and Betty Humphries, and Nelson Wayne and Marilyn Humphries, all of Hillsboro and Noel Lee and Jane Humphries of Milford, Ohio; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hester Elizabeth Hedges Humphries; one sister, Shirley Ann Humphries; and one brother, Donald Lewis Humphries. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at the Hutton Funeral Home with Pastor Tracy Crouch and Pastor Ron Dick officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery. Pallbearers: Scott Harber, Gayle Harber, Travis Humphries, Charlie DeAtley, Jon Oldson and Jimmy Adams. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at the Hutton Funeral Home, 7634 Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, KY 41049.
