The Portsmouth Daily Times, November 15, 1998 AMERICA WILBURN, 80 America "Amy" Frances Wilburn, 80, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, died Friday, Nov. 13, 1998, at Greenbriar Convalescent Center. She was born Nov. 4, 1918, in Rowan County, Ky., a daughter of the late Harry and Minnie Summers Thompson Salyers. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and she was a homemaker. She loved nature and birds, and was especially talented at growing beautiful flowers. She had attended the former Pilgrim Holiness Baptist Church in Fullerton, Ky. She was preceded in death Oct. 23, 1968, by her husband, Morton Wilburn, who she married Oct. 15, 1938, in Greenup, Ky. Surviving are her lifelong friend and companion, William Melvin Wilburn; two sons, William M. and Joan Wilburn of Fort Pierce, Fla., and V. Ray and Claudia Wilburn of Wheelersburg; four daughters, Mrs. Harold (Shirley Ann) Valentine, Wanda Jean Wellman, Glenna Dene Wilburn, and Mrs. Brian (Sheila Kay) Wolfe, all of Wheelersburg; six brothers, Arnold and Dennis Salyers of Carrollton, Ohio, Clarence and cledith Salyers of Canton, Ohio, John Salyers of Twin Valley, Ohio, and Ezra Salyers of Dayton; one sister, Marie Allen of Minford, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Steve Valentine, Jeff Valentine, Eric Valentine, Lisa Valentine Hettel, Lori Wilburn, Brian Wilburn, Keith Wickline, Amy Wickline, Ryan Wolfe, Kyle Wolfe and Melissa Wolfe; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Driver and Onia Royer. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth, with the Rev. Alicia Burks officiating, and interment in Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday.
