Benita Lynn Little Blanton, 51 years of age, of Morehead, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, December 21st, 2016 from injuries she received during a single-car crash on I-64 in Rowan County, Kentucky. Benita was born in Muncie, Indiana on June 23rd, 1965, daughter of Rita Juanita Littleton Little and the late James L. Little. Benita was a 1983 graduate of Rowan County Senior High School and received her Associates Degree from Morehead State University. Benita was a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement inspector with the state of Kentucky. She was hired by Kentucky State Police as a dispatcher at the Morehead Post in December 2012. Inspector Blanton transferred to Commercial Vehicle Enforcement as an inspector in December 2015. She had previously worked at Sealmaster for twenty-five years. Benita attended Johnson First Church of God and was a life member of the National Rifle Association. She enjoyed hunting, Shop With A Trooper, riding motorcycles, traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Benita was survived by her loving husband, Bill Blanton; her mother, Rita Juanita Littleton Little of Morehead, Kentucky; one son, Brad (and Caitlin) Johnson of Charlestown, Indiana; one daughter, Rachael Lynn (and Justin) Childers of Beattyville, Kentucky; one-step daughter, Lynsey Rae (and Bobby) Cantrell of Louisa, Kentucky; one brother, James Earl (and Kim) Little of Morehead, Kentucky; three sisters, Darlena Little of Lexington, Kentucky, and Vonda (and Mike) Boyd and Melissa (and Larry) Moore, both of Morehead, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Aidan Trent, Reagan Johnson, Roxanne Childers, Kayden Childers, Hadley Childers, Kayson Cantrell, and Roslyn Cantrell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her father, James L. Little, who departed this life on April 13th, 2004. Visitations were held after 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23rd, 2016 at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead, Kentucky. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24th, 2016 in the Chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating. Burial followed in the Adams-Plank Cemetery in Cranston, Kentucky. Final rites were presented by the Kentucky State Police Honor Guard at the gravesite. Her pallbearers were Kentucky State Police and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officers.
