Mrs. Neil, 92, of Bolivar died at 12:40 a.m. Saturday in her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren after a battle with cancer. She was saved, baptized and became a member of the Aldrich Methodist Church on Nov. 24, 1999. She was born in Bolivar, the daughter of Benjamin and Charlotte Hester Summers. She was the youngest of 12 children. She married Loman William Neil on Dec. 22, 1946, and they were the parents of four children. They were partners in marriage as well as farming, milking and their special loves of gardening and cattle which Dorothy kept up with until this past year. She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law and father-in-law; her husband, Loman; her brothers, Joe Summers and wife Neoma and Dick Summers and wife Lila; her sisters, Margaret "Maggie" Ammerman and husband Bob, Phyllis Mashburn and husband Earl, Eva Cox and husband Charles, Edna Allegar and husband Ralph, Ellen Spoon and husband George, Ida Suddeth and husband Willard and Tillie Nunn and husband Roy; a brother-in-law, Harold Gill; sisters-in-law Midge Smay and husband Cleo "Putter" and Lois Taylor and husband Paul; and brothers-in-law Loyal Neil and James Riggins. She is survived by her sons, John W. Neil and wife Marjorie of Syracuse and Randy Lee Neil of Bolivar; daughters Debra J. Short and husband Roger of Bolivar and Sue A. Neil of Aldrich; grandchildren Abby Inglis and husband Darrin of Bolivar, Rachel Bacon and husband Bryan of Aldrich, Richard Lane and wife Tina of Lee's Summit; five great-grandchildren, Dani Inglis, Lily Bacon, Nichole, Nicholas and Madison Lane; sisters Connie Lillie and husband Marvin and Martha Gill; sisters-in-law Lorene Neil and Lavonna Riggins; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, Murray Funeral Home, Bolivar.
