Billy D. Hinton, 82, of Carthage, died November 16 at his home. He was born July 26, 1925, in Haldeman, Ky., a son of the late Lewis O. and Dovie (Bowen) Hinton. Mr. Hinton lived in Carthage most of his life. He was an electrician for C.C.A. He married Betty Whitfield on July 31, 1950. Mr. Hinton was a member of Fletcher United Methodist Church in Carthage and Knightstown American Legion Post 152. Mr. Hinton served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and he received a Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife, Betty (Whitfield) Hinton of Carthage; three daughters, Denise (husband, Gary) Spence of Carthage, Roxann (husband, Allen) Egilmez of Indianapolis and Jana (husband, Marc) Armstrong of Goodyear, Ariz.; three sisters, Lillie Rankin of Knightstown, Ruby Gorman of Lewisville and Mable Shelley of Rushville; and six grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Hinton and Robert Hinton. Funeral services were November 20 at Todd Funeral Home in Knightstown with Pastor Roger Campbell and Janet Shutt officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 152 and Knightstown VFW. Visitation was November 19 at the funeral home 21 Nov 2007 The Knightstown Banner
