Doris Herring was born in Marion, Indiana, on March 4, 1927, to James and Gertrude Brammer. Along with her parents, Doris is joining in a heavenly reunion with her brothers she has so dearly missed: Eugene (Nellie) Brammer, Paul (Eula) Brammer, and James (Marcella) Brammer. Doris was 92 years old. Doris graduated from Marion High School in 1945. She was always a loyal Marion Giants basketball fan, cheering them on whenever she could. In 1953, Doris married Kenneth Herring (also deceased). They had two children: David (Karen) Herring, Fort Wayne, and a stillborn daughter, Rhonda. Doris also was blessed with a daughter-in-law, Pam (Yeager) Herring, who passed in 2004. Doris enjoyed being a member of the Mississinewa Eastern Star, listening to the radio, and winning many prizes by calling in correct answers. She retired from her job, in the box room, at Foster Forbes in 1982. Doris always lived her life in South Marion until an illness in 2012, requiring her to have assistance in daily care, brought her to live in Fort Wayne with David and Karen. She was lovingly cared for until moving on to The Cedars in 2015 when she required greater care. She enjoyed the activities at The Cedars, especially playing “Name That Tune”, which she won almost always. They teasingly nicknamed her “Doris Day”, and she would come right back with her natural, good humor. She enjoyed the weekly bus trips to lunch until she was no longer physically able to attend. She made several friends at The Cedars while being cared for by loving staff. Doris will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She also leaves behind her two granddaughters, Christen (Matt) Stebing, Fort Wayne, and Courtney Herring, also from Fort Wayne; two great-grandchildren, Addison and Liam Stebing; three step-grandchildren, Kari Thompson, Fairmount, Chad (Veronica) Hasty, Fairmount, and Ryan (Angel) Hasty, Summitville; and several step-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN. Her nephew, Barton Price, will be officiating with burial taking place at Estates of Serenity (formerly I.O.O.F. Cemetery), Marion
