Helen Tussey, 93, of College Corner, died Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Liberty Nursing Center of Oxford. She was born in Paris, Kentucky on February 13, 1918 to Edward W. and Beulah Hughes Denton. On August 31, 1935 she married Woodrow Tussey in Mt. Carmel, Indiana. She was known to all as a good homemaker, and had volunteered more than 2000 hours in 15 years at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital. Helen was a 50-year member of the Brookville Chapter #449, Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the College Corner United Methodist Church. Survivors include her children: Kirby and Doris Tussey, of College Corner; Nancy and Don Whitford, of Aurora, Colorado; three grandchildren: Edward Tussey, Ryan Tussey and his wife, Jenni, all of Oxford, Michelle Wisler and her husband, Jay, of Castle Rock, Colorado; five great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law: Nilah and John Layman, of Oxford; sister-in-law: Virginia Denton, of Connersville; several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Charles Edward Tussey, and her brother: Raymond Denton. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, College Corner, with Reverend Mick Miller of the College Corner United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in College Corner Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service where memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati or to the College Corner United Methodist Church.
