FLEMINGSBURG -- Jesse V. Gooding, 90, of Flemingsburg, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Fleming County Hospital.

He was born in Goddard, April 12, 1921, to the late Lazarus and Della Thacker Gooding.

Mr. Gooding had worked at District 9 State Highway Department as a mechanic, and was a life-long farmer. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a life-long member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Maxine Arnold Gooding; children,  Johnnie (Trish Spivey) Gooding, Kenny (Linda) Gooding, Sharon (Don) Young, all of Flemingsburg, and Patty (Rick) Brock of Maysville;  brothers, Ollie Clifford Gooding of Flemingsburg and Oral Clyde Gooding of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren, Melissa Williamson, Dennis Jolley, Dawn Bilbrey, Holly Hilterbrand, Kim Gooding, Amber Gooding and Jonathan Gooding; and six great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Victor Gooding; and a sister, Lena Strickland

Services are 2 p.m., Sunday March 18, 2012, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev Howard Livingood and Rev. Walter Bratcher.

Burial will follow in Fleming County Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the W.N. Fant American Legion Post No.5 and Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834. Pallbearers will be Dennis Jolley, Jonathan Gooding, Mike Bilbrey, Todd Hash, Scottie Dailey and Zach Hilterbrand.

Visitation is 6-9 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Of Hope.
