Elsie Hall, age 86, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Henry County Hospital. She was born August 11, 1923 in Grant City, IN, the daughter of Charles and Lydda (Plank) Goodwin.

A 1941 graduate of Mays High School, Elsie was a member of the Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene. She was a professional interior decorator, an avid painter and enjoyed reading. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Russell Hall Jr. of New Castle; children: Larry (Anna) Cox of New Castle, Sherry (Ronnie) Dean and Terry Cox both of Las Vegas; step children: Russ Hall III of Anderson, Steve Hall of Rocksville, IL, Marilyn Hall of New Castle, Keith (Terry) Beachy Hall of Grandville, MD; adopted daughter, Sharon (John) Dabney of New Castle; twenty grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald Cox; four brothers: Orville, Arthur, Harry and Earl Goodwin; a sister, Edna Kirk; a son, Steve Cox; two daughters-in-law: Cecilia Cox and Paula Cox; two grandsons: Shane Holt and Chris Hall; and granddaughter, Marci Tillery.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2010 at Hinsey Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Bob Fannin officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
